Privacy Policy
At Crisis Path, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Crisis Path mobile application (the "App") and our website crisispath.com (the "Site") and related services (collectively, the "Services").
By using our Services, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
- Account Information: Name, email address, and authentication credentials when you register.
- Location Data (foreground only): When you tap an emergency action (e.g. "I'm Safe", "Help", "Check In", "Share Location") or actively use map features, the App accesses your device GPS location at that moment to share it with people you have explicitly added as your emergency contacts or family/team members. The App does not run persistent background location tracking.
- Subscription & Purchase Data: On iOS, in-app subscriptions are processed by Apple via StoreKit; we receive a transaction identifier and product ID from Apple but do not see your payment card. On Android, payments are processed by Stripe; we receive a customer/subscription identifier from Stripe.
- Communications: Messages you send through in-app chat, names, and avatar photos for your team/family contacts.
- Device & Usage Data: Device model, operating system version, app version, crash reports, and feature interaction analytics.
- Push Notification Tokens: Apple/Google issued device tokens used to deliver alerts to your team.
- Microphone & Speech (on demand): When you use the AI Crisis Guide or AI Plan Builder voice features, audio is captured only while the mic button is held and is converted to text on-device or via our speech-to-text provider.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect continuous background location.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
- We do not access the detailed content of your private crisis plans unless you explicitly share them.
- We do not store payment card numbers or banking credentials.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Services.
- To enable emergency-sharing features with the contacts you choose.
- To process subscriptions and entitle your account to paid features across devices.
- To communicate with you about your account, subscriptions, and updates.
- To analyze usage trends, prevent abuse, and improve performance.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
- Service Providers: We share data only with vendors that operate the Services on our behalf — Apple (App Store, push notifications), Google Firebase (authentication, push, realtime data), Stripe (Android payments), Google Maps (mapping & geocoding), ElevenLabs (text-to-speech), and our hosting provider — under contractual confidentiality and data-processing terms.
- Family / Team Members: Location and status updates are shared only with the specific people you add to your family or team, when you explicitly trigger a share action.
- Legal Requests: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
5. Apple App Tracking Transparency
On iOS, we request your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework before any data is used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. You may grant or deny this permission at first launch and change it at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Denying tracking does not affect your ability to use the App or any of its features.
6. Apple In-App Purchase & Subscription Receipts
When you purchase an iOS subscription, Apple shares a cryptographically signed transaction record (an Apple "transaction" or "receipt") with our servers so we can verify the purchase and grant the corresponding plan to your Crisis Path account. The receipt includes a non-personal product identifier, a transaction identifier, an environment indicator (Sandbox/Production), and timestamps. It does not include your Apple ID, name, or payment method. You can manage or cancel an iOS subscription in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
7. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted database connections, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Choices and Rights
- Location Permission: Manage in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Crisis Path, or Android system settings.
- Tracking Permission (iOS): Manage in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Notifications: Manage in your device system settings.
- Account Access & Deletion: You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account information by emailing privacy@crisispath.com, or by tapping Profile → Delete Account inside the App.
- Subscriptions: Cancel anytime — iOS via Apple Account Subscriptions; Android via Stripe customer portal or by contacting support.
- EU Users (GDPR): You have the right to access, rectify, port, restrict processing of, or erase your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
- California Users (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
9. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you materially violate our Terms. Account termination will purge your account information and personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are legally required to retain certain records.
10. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on the Site, and where appropriate, by in-app notice. Your continued use of the Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
